It very well could be.. and it would be perfect for a lot of businesses out there.. and at even $500 a month it's a steal compared to what they're paying for T1 service right now. i'd pay $500 a month for 100/100 course the cap would have to be better than 250gb/mo. -- When I gez aju zavateh na nalechoo more new yonooz tonigh molinigh - Ken Lee

And then you'd be agreeing to pay ten times as much as people in Sweden for a service that has been around for years.

Lay off the crack. years ago bredsbirgeneneetetetetete funny swedesh isp name goes here had dial up speeds outside SWEDEN. They can offer you 30000gpbs inside the node but that doesn't mean that speed is actually worth anything outside your apartment block.

Then move to Sweden... we're not Sweden.. we're not the UK.. we're not South Korea... we're not any of the other countries...
I wonder if Sweden says "But America has bigger houses".. or "But America has those nice SUVs..." or "But Americans have more money"... hrmmmmm...
Yea.. if you want cheap broadband, by all means, please go move to those countries.. our economy is not comparable to theirs on many levels... you can't have ALL of what WE have and then point your finder to the other side of the fence... You want what they have.. go there, but be ready to give up a lot of things you enjoy now in the process. And, if you have nothing to give up by leaving, then maybe it's a good move for you.

So your explanation of why American broadband sucks is just "because"....
God forbid we hold ourselves to any kind of standard.

(snip) So your explanation of why American broadband sucks is just "because".... God forbid we hold ourselves to any kind of standard. Um.. stop hating America... and no, I don't need to go into a novel every time I say something and explain every detail... I ASSUME that people are smart enough to figure life out on their own, boy am I wrong.
Look.. PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR WHAT THEY WANT! That's one reason why our broadband sucks. We DO have standards.. did you miss the point about SUVs, Large houses, land to call our own, etc etc etc? What do you want? ... are you so spoiled that you have to have EVERYTHING? If broadband isn't available in your area becuase you live that far out.. then move. Why should the rest of us rate payers and tax payers flip the bill for your choice? (There is a reason why we have city centers) Do you not think that 5mb broadband is good enough for you? How about 10? Are you that spoiled?
Do you not have better "standards" than many other residents of other countries in so many ways?
Seriously... it sickens me to listen to posts and comments like this when they think their life revolves around broadband.
I'd LOVE to live out in the country myself.. that's a standard I set for myself.. but, I know that SOME things are important to me, so I MAKE A CHOICE.. something many people don't care to do.. or WANT to do.. they just want life handed to them.
You also forget, when people point fingers at other countries that they live in an area where population is much more dense.. I suppose that's a standard for THEM.. and hey, it works for them. How would you like to live in NYC? Go there and experience these "other cities" that everyone wants their broadband of.. see how you like it. You don't live there becuase I'm sure that's not a standard you'd like to have for yourself.. right?
Deploying broadband in these other countries is MUCH cheaper and MUCH easier.. and many of these other countries tax the ever living hell out of you for it too..
So really.. think before you make comments about it... either that, or you seriously don't know.. and if that's the case, please don't try to argue your points..
And also.. don't ever try putting words in my mouth.. you'll lose. I NEVER said "American Broadband sucks.. I think it's on a steady course moving forward.. even the phone system itself took time to build... so why is broadband any different?
You want fiber to the home...? you want every home to have it? ... stop pussy-footing around and tell me what it's worth to you and how much YOU are willing to pay for it.. stop deflecting your lack of knowledge onto others with quirky little digs like your "just because" comment especially when I said far more than that.. and put your money where your mouth is.. the reason YOU and SO many others will NEVER answer that question when I ask it is because it will only expose the reality of what it costs to deploy these services in this country.. THAT is why..
.. and no, broadband in America doesn't "suck"... I don't think that at all. I think people get what they pay for.. that's what I think. Broadband, IN THIS COUNTRY, is WAY under-priced.
