Re: central PA world of more updates

your area probrably not going to change you are on the edge of the keystone east region you are basically a special case as you are in the philadephia DMA but have out of market channels from nearby DMA(s) you are basically on the edge of the philidephia DMA so your system will probrably not change DMAs

Here we have a suddenlink system that is on the edge of the DFW DMA that has DFW locals and cannot tune a single one over air unless you are the cable co or have satellite. But they can pick up KLTV a out of market channel for them I think they should be in the tyler-nacogdoches DMA but the people there prefer DFW as they consider themselfs the very far fringe of DFW METRO as mount pleasant tx is in the next county and they have TEXARKANA-SHREVEPORT locals and winnsboro which is conected to sulphur springs is in the TYLER-NACOGDOCHES DMA. which is in the next county over.

and then we have the case of Sherman-ADA where only one county in texas is in that DMA the surronding texas counties are part of the DFW market.

I was told northern panhandle of west virginia (specifically weirton) is going through the 1st wave within 2 to 3 weeks. The lady at the desk told me since 85% of the households with cable have at least ONE digital box they were told no advance notice was necessary. They also told me that they are trying their hardest to do it this week and hopefully by friday, if there aren't any glitches in setting up the headend I guess.
Now whether she was blowing smoke but they usually are right on with their news.

Maybe comcast guy can shed some light on whether she was telling the truth of now.

I got a phone call and they said it's "tba" in their system. They are calling the local office and find out where they are getting information from and if they arent correct they will ask them not to give out misinformation anymore.

Looks like between late april and late june now since there isnt a date yet.

projects this take months not just one day.

It has tanken twc dallas 3 months to install SDV.

You can move 5 analogs one day but not 40 until you are ready. 85-100% digital penetration and a legal notice is required no matter what she said because the FCC said so.

just trying to help you. asking evry day is not going to help once a month or every six weeks would be better No flame war is starting.

So do we have any idea what hd channels will be added for Reading after the first cut at the end of this month?

Some combination of of these channels that we don't already have:

As for timing, who knows? Got my newest bill today and there is nothing on it about analog cuts or faster internet speeds.

I think the bill is just that.... a bill.

The new products, services and calvary will be separate mailers. Surprised we didn't see a set top message yet about the cutoff.

I think after the first cutoff the following was slated to be added, but this was almost two months ago. Things change...

Bio HD
Cartoon Network HD
E! HD
Encore East HD
Fox Business HD
Hallmark Movie Channel HD
Lifetime Movie Networks HD
Planet Green HD
NBA TV HD
Travel Channel HD

I could continue on about the second grouping but I think you all know what the end result will be from reading the other area's PDF's are. Plus the info I have is over about 2 months old. They change things up minute by minute, so we will just wait and see.

I know they take months but we've had dtas since january and everyone on my grandparent's street has their 1 regular box and 2 dtas already. I think since the whole street is seniors I believe they are usually one of the last to adopt new technology.

Could the holdup be getting buildings like apartments, hospitals, businesses and nursing homes outfitted so every tv in them doesn't need a box?

Isn't the general rule that 60 days after dtas are available is when the first wave is?
60 days from SOFT launch is march 15th
60 days from OFFICIAL launch of DTAs is april 13th.

No notice for either of those yet although they have til march 15th to notify us for april 13th.

Reading 1st analog cut

In the past the bill seemed to be the way Comcast passed along service messages.Of all the the things Comcast mailed to a home you would think the bill got the most attention.

It's going to be interesting to see how hard Comcast pushes the word on the 1st analog cut, quite a few people I've talked to remember getting a flier but haven't ordered DTA's and are in for a surprise on or about the 30th.

Im going to have a service expansion around the 1 first week of april Im getting SDV so I will give central pa updates and bugs and how the tuning is going so all of you are informed when it does come to your area next year or later as is they are going to run out of bandwith on 750MHz quickly after they hit 100HD mark so I am warning yall of the issues.

This will be with Iguide so here I go into project 90 days to 100 HD from Bigband just so I can tell you the way SDV on motorola actually works and its qwirks and bugs.

they are moving to SDV:
ESPN HD
ESPN2 HD
ESPNU HD
ESPNEWS HD
DISNEY HD
DISNEY XD HD
ABC FAMILY HD
FX HD
SPEED HD
FSN HD
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC HD
FOX NEWS HD
CNN HD
TNT HD
TBS HD
HD THEATER
DISCOVERY HD
ANIMAL PLANET HD
TLC HD
SCIENCE CHANNEL HD
PLANET GREEN HD
TRAVEL HD
BIO HD
A&E HD
HISTORY HD
WEATHER CHANNEL HD
CBS COLLEGE SPORTS HD
CNBC HD
USA HD
BRAVO HD
Syfy HD
STARZ HD
CINEMAX HD
MGM HD
SMITHSONIAN HD
MAV TV HD
UHD
VERSUS HD
GOLF HD
LMN HD

43 HD in total basically freeing up 16 qams for SDV.

I think they figured if they move HD to SDV they wont have as many problems as SD is the most tuned version and leaving SD broadcast they have to do mixing SD and HD on SDV I think this is smart right now the have 55 broadcast HD so if they use up to the max 39HD can be supported SDV at once on each node and only have 43HD go SDV they wont have problems at the begining but when we get to 100HD it is iffy.

because i still have a bond that lasts a lifetime with reading twice under a&t and Comcast.

mike TWC dallas has been a system like yours no major change how do you call adding 5 HD greener grass it is not just because we have 55HD does not mean are the best.

they infrastructure they put in made this possible it was required as dallas was on a A/B system and they want everyone equal so dont go saying im better off man. no flaming just saying.

They are pioneering stuff for you so dont ask me to leave please I trying to help you in the long haul 12-24 months so I can post as long as it pertains to Iguide and it helps cypherstream learn and show yall what I have document oh and cypherstream our ondemand is using bigband edge QAMs essentially it is now bigband SDV not real SDV just sdv 1.0 as this has been what vod is all along im getting SDV 2.0 which is broadcast channels.

Mike I feel sorry for you but insulting other posters because they are not giving you what you want is not helping. not being mean just sharing platform info with CPA/Pittsburgh as yall have SDV complaint software all it takes is the hardware at the cable office so im near the 90 day point for my systems installation of BigBand at least it could have started earlier than janunary so please dont flame or degrade me mods please dont delete his comment as im trying to help him I did the samething you did and I have been there done that got a teeshirt from it. So dont push your luck too far.

Does this new Central PA thread affect some of the northeast region as well? Specifically zips like 18612, 18708.

I know in the past an older Central PA thread was the place to look for me for updates. Since that thread died I cant get an update on my area to save my life. Even after posting in the direct forum, and a personal call from Comcast, I still don't know when changes are coming for this area, Scranton, Dunmore, Dallas System.

Thnak you

The tech I know told me that the Williamsport system (SA) will switch to S25.2 in June. I'd assume its the same for you guys!

Well, I'm off three days this week, but I doubt that's why.

Doubtful that it would push other areas back.

CH 21 missing from DTA's in Reading

While watching NASA TV on channel 22 in Reading I noticed that Channel 21 is not mapped to DTA's. I checked both DTA's and power cycled them just to make sure it wasn't me.The channel works on full featured boxes and is still there on analog so it's just not working on DTA's.

In the Scranton/Dunmore/Dallas system we got 3 new HD channels...

827 Spike HD
835 Lifetime HD
879 Nickolodeon HD

PCN was moved to digital, and Fox News took its place at channel 60.

Did this happen anywhere else?
