Re: Solution in search of a problem

I can help you with your narrow minded thinking if you'd like..

... Maybe this service is more designed for those who live in their area/footprint and want to have more mobility between their home and they're daily use. Further, when you're not on their "spotty WiFi coverage" you have the good old fashion cellular network... (Notice the emphasis on being able to hand off between wifi and cellular networks??)

So in short, maybe this service wouldn't be the best for YOU.

People make the same arguments about providers like MetroPCS who's business model is largely on, oh wait, THE METRO in which they serve?? Meaning yea, people complain that they only cover you in the cities it serves and roaming is expensive.. but the point of providers like MetroPCS who started with Flat Rate service for $40 a month wasn't for you to have a cell phone that you could use all over the country.. it was designed to give you service in your home city which they served... in other words, the service wasn't for everyone.

But besides that, in this case, I don't think you're readying because the service allows you to use a cellular network when you're not on a WiFi.. and while you are on a WiFi, you don't HAVE to use the cellular network... pretty cool, huh?

Re: Solution in search of a problem

Verizon Wireless has saturated the entire state of New Jersey.
The closest CV WiFi is over 2 miles away.
So how does that give me "more mobility"?

Re: Solution in search of a problem

I heard they will be using AT&T and T-mobile and if so that will be a kick ass network.

Knock knock puddin' head... where does this article say "more mobility".... ? I just re-read Karl's story.. all it talks about is the ability to seamlessly switch between their WiFi and their Cellular network... I don't believe this is about "mobility"...

OK, "puddin' head"? (You said that, too, in case you forgot again.)

Re: Solution in search of a problem

I don't know about you, but I don't take words out of context.. we're clearly talking about one thing, and you're waaaaaaaaay up on the moon talking about another.

It's CLEAR you don't live in their WiFi service area, right? I think that other part, you left out, has a LOT to do with "more mobility..."...

What part of "Maybe this service is more designed for those who live in their area/footprint and want to have more mobility..."

I speak and apply the English language correctly...

You CLEARLY over looked that and are trying to twist this around on me.

Look, not only have I said it, others have too.. this service isn't for you.. move on.

Re: Solution in search of a problem

I live in CV's footprint, but CV hates NJ and we're always last to get anything.

The point is that a cell phone provides far more coverage and mobility. CV WiFi will provide ZERO additional coverage. None. Nada. Ziltch. So what's the point of providing nothing?

Grow up.

Edit:

I suppose that when cable first started laying service in a town for the first time, having service ready only to a limited part of the city was pointless? I suppose when Verizon rolls out LTE to a few cities, that the lack of coverage was pointless? I suppose when Fios only hit a few homes to begin with, it too was useless?

Are you just trolling? ... or you really that clueless? If you can't figure out the message you're being told by me, and others, then you're either really clueless or just trolling. Either way, see above.

Re: Solution in search of a problem

What I'm saying is that I see no reason for a WiFi phone, as the cellular service already saturates the entire state and can be used almost anywhere in the US and Canada.

And when you consider that CV's WiFi coverage is very spotty and will only ever cover a tiny fraction of the state, its pointlessness becomes even more evident.

It covers the DENSEST part of the state and not the rolling hills and woods of Bedminster.
