Re: MoFi 3G 3500 router and Rogers Rocket Stick

We have tested the unit with the Rogers Stick and a cheap USB hub: Cable Unlimited Model: USB-1810 and there has not been any disconnect with the hub and the stick.
A Canon ink jet printer was attached and we can print and use the 3G stick perfectly with no issues.

If you are looking to use the printer just for printing and the 3G stick and have a decent signal to begin with, there should be no issues using a hub with the MOFI3500-3GN.

We did noticed there is a drop in signal strength for the 3G signal when the hub is connected so unless you have a decent signal to begin with, I would not recommend a hub to use either.

For those that live in areas where the signal is weak, you should look into an external antenna for the stick providing that the stick has an antenna input.

The MOFI router was designed by a Canadian company and the first goal was to focus on the Canadian providers which they have done and all providers in Canada with all sticks currently covered.

The next step which work has already started was to do this for the USA market.

The USA market is very large and has many small providers.

The router is working with various sticks from each provider but there are about 15 new sticks that are in the process of being implement for the US providers including the UM175

As such, for any customer buying the router in the US, I would recommend them to send an email to MOFINETWORK to verify that their stick will work until this new firmware is released.

Hi guys,
I have a Mofi 3500N router with the May 06 2010 firmware. I'm using a Rogers Rocket stick ZTE MF688 USB modem with this setup. Can anyone recommend the best antenna I can use with the Rocket stick? I'm seeing mostly 0.75 M download and 0.5 M upload speed with 75% signal strength.

I have no idea about antenna for ZTE MF688.

Where you place the Mofi gear plays a huge role in the quality of the Rogers signal. My suggestion is try different locations and always remember that the higher the better [2nd floor is much better than the 1st floor -- basement is the worst location] and make sure that no obstacles are in the way of the Router. Do NOT use a USB HUB connected to this router.

Will try to find some places to get these for you later this week and will post some suppliers.

The antenna's are great and will get you faster speeds if you have a low signal coming in.

MOFI NETWORK will be getting some antenna's for this purpose later in the summer.

For most of the Rogers sticks and the Telus 306 stick,
this antenna looks good.

I have no experience with this store but found it on google

Will try to place some order and test antenna out but just passing on the info for others to look into.

Make sure you check with anyone you buy the antenna from to make sure the stick you are going to use is compatible with the antenna as there are many selections.

I do recommend getting the largest one possible and put it on the roof.

For the difference in speeds, I think it is worth looking into.
