I live in a U-VERSE area highest I can get is 18/2.5. so TWC dallas is going to have a better internet speed than at&t uverse copper pair will have until an unknown date. 30/5 is interesting wonder what the price is.

So $75 per month unbundled? Could be rather interesting...beats Comcast's 22/5 tier for $75 + modem rental.

My one concern here is the statements on the page suggest that if you have a 64 bit OS then there 3.0 won't work..

Makes no dam sense to me.....

use your own modem!

The SMC modem sucks if that is what they are using if they say they dont support 64bit they can be sued for not supporting products that are certified to run Docsis 3.0 and im sorry but 32bit/64bit means nothing when interfacing with a modem unless there modem doesnt work with 64bit.

whoops cajunTek you miss the minimum requirement part 64bit will work

I have the mot 6120 and that speed above, the 41.22 dl is using Windows 7 64-bit... 3.0 has nothing to do with 64/32 bit OS's.

I'm still paying $46.50/mo for 7/512 (no bundles, internet only). So the 30/5 is going to be about $71.50 right?

I got mine installed today. I live in The Colony. I was at 15 / 2 for around $55 per month. They told me 30 / 5 for $69.99 and 50 / 5 for $99.99 per month. This is NOT bundled. I only have internet service. The sales rep told me there is no penalty to downgrade later on so I went with the 50 / 5. I will warn everyone that you DO have to have a new cable modem that is Docsis 3 capable. The sales rep had no clue what I was talking about and said I didn't need a new modem. Also, they will NOT let you exchange your modem for a new one at the payment center. You must have a technician come out. There is nothing to the install other than the cable from the wall, your Ethernet cable to the router or PC and then they attach the modem to your account but never the less they will NOT give these modems out at the office. The new modem is the Motorola SB6120. I did a speed test and do get 50mbps down and 5mbps up.

Motorola SB6120 is fine if you don't have their VoIP service (phone). I wonder what model they have for VoIP with DOCSIS 3.0.???

Just got a letter today in the mail from TWC.. they're jacking the standard 7/512 up by $4/mo.. so I'll be paying $50.50. That makes the difference ~$20 to upgrade to 30/5.

BTW: Are the DOCSIS3.0's available Frys?

I bought my 6120 for $90 on Amazon, and installed it myself last year. I still have the $45 a month turbo and get 50 down/2 up. I'm not upgrading until I lose the 50 down for $45 a month.

Just talked to TWC and they are giving me 15/2 for $39.99/mo and bringing me a Motorola DOCSIS 3.0 modem on Tuesday.

They also told me the modem lease price is built in to the monthly service price so theres no price benefit to owning a modem anymore.

Excuse me for asking but why would you need a DOCSIS 3 modem for 15/2 speeds?

I asked him if he could just "fix it at the head-end". He said my DOCSIS 1.0 modem "was not compatible" with the 15/2.

I didn't really believe him, but if I get a "free" DOCSIS 3.0 modem then I will be ready if I decide to go up to the new 30/5 speed which *does* require 3.0, right?

EDIT: Just read the wikipedia entry on DOCSIS.. looks like 1.0 does 40/10 so as I suspected my 1.0 modem does *not* need to be replaced.. any ideas as to why they are pushing a new modem on me?
