is there is big difference between the 790 and the 890 chips set. Aslo is the new chip set allot faster?

I haven't seen much in the way of benchmarks comparing the performance differences of the chipsets yet.

The 890 is not a significant reworking of the 785g or 790 chipsets though and the performance looks to be about the same.
Whether it is worth the premium or not depends on whether things like the southbridge sata 6 and usb 3 capabilities are really important to you and whether you want a future 6 core chip. We don't know yet whether any issues will crop up running such a chip on the the older boards.
There are some options in non-890 boards that have sata 6/usb 3 and I haven't seen performance comparisons yet.
You have the added problem that the price starts pushing an amd setup up into the area where it may make more sense to just go with an i5 750.

So the question isn't clear to me yet. If the price was in the same ballpark as the 785 boards it would be a no brainer but I'm not that impressed, at this point.
If you were planning on running a really high end upcoming sata 6 ssd drive then maybe... on the other hand if you are doing that the intel solutions seem to have better storage performance, and price wouldn't appear to be an issue, so again going i5 might be the better choice.

As you can see I'm kind of meh(shrug) about it

If you want to talk about specifics for your situation we can discuss budget, what you are wanting to accomplish, and how important the new sata and usb capabilities are to you. If you are wanting to put together a budget system I would probably stick with a 785 based board and an athlon II of some kind.

Acc is gone with the 890.

Supposedly some of the asus and asrock 890 boards have some capability to unlock.
