when i upgraded to the new version of utorrent, i kept the same settings as before because everything was working fine. now, i can only use utorrent and nothing else net related since it takes up all my internet speed. it maxes out my dsl line so i can't do anything else. did they add new settings to this new version that would do this? my current dsl speed test done a couple days ago came to 1753 kbps download and 416 kbps upload. i have utorrent sdet at 125 download and 8 upload.
I'm not into Torrents, I use Usenet. But I did download the new utorrent to see what was new. I upgraded just like you and experienced the same problem. While downloading using the new utorrent, my internet connection became unusable. I have a 7 mega bit cable line. I spent a few minutes checking the settings but didn't really try hard to trouble shoot it. I ended up downgrading to an older version of utorrent. The problem went away.
This doesn't help you but you are not alone having this issue. I would suggest doing a clean install. Completely uninstall utorrent and deleting your settings. Then try reinstalling the new version of utorrent. See if that helps.
Good luck.
Edit:
After doing a quick search it seems some routers don't get along with the new utorrent. It seems turning off the new "Bandwidth Management" feature off and/or changing "bt.transp_disposition is set to 5", appears to fix the problem for some people.
