Have you run speed test for your ISP?
To use ooma hub, you need the upload speed over 100 kbps (read ooma forum posts). It's confirmed by several users. some user's ISP is Wireless "Clear" (?), its upload speed is just 100 ~130 kbps, and as low as 60 kbps. At that bandwidth, very bad ooma audio quality reported. ooma has no options on audio codec. so g729 is not a fix for ooma. but Clear user reported voip phone using g729 running just fine.
