Re: Why Not? said by Karl Bode:...[cable] executives who hate Google's guts for their positions on network neutrality, white space broadband, competition, etc. Agreed. And telco which has overlap with AT&T and Verizon. There's too much bad blood and generalized fear that Google tentacles know no bounds. Broadcast entities are also notorious for protecting turf and being slow to share it even when it would likely advance their own interests.
Karl, you said "and could be discontinued at any time, said the people familiar with the matter." Who might these people be? Smacks of a statement safe to utter due to wide criticism of (or whining about) Google's tendency to dev projects, float them onto a pool of users (often an excited public) then drop them as silently as the project appeared.
Sooo, are these people actually "familiar with the matter" or simply mouthing skepticism due to previous Google Labs behavior?
Thanks. |

Fairly typical anonymous quote reporting -- I assume they're either Google or Dish employees simply saying that the project really could be scrapped if either side doesn't like the results or finds the technology doesn't work. |
