chlenEthically ChallengedPremium join:2001-01-16 Albany, NY | Albany, NY I was told that the upgrades in nycap.rr.com district have been completed and modems would be available in the spring with a major launch in the summer including all sort of marketing. Mostly aimed at the suburbs of Albany which have FIOS, however the city will also get it.
Right now the standard RR service in Albany is 25/1. Only as a result of FIOS being a player in the suburbs. FIOS does not offer TV services here. My father is paying 69.99 for 25/25 in Latham. -- This is not the greatest post in the world, no, this is just a tribute!

No I have the basic rr, I do not have power boost. Actually powerboost is not available/advertised here. There is RR Extreme or something like it, but it is more expensive. I have the basic 39.99 RR, no cable tv. I do not know what the advertized speed of it is, but on speedtest.net i test from around 17-24 down depending on server. Since the basic fios package is 25 down here, I would assume RR is matching it. Also when I got rid of cable some time ago, my price did not go up for not having cable. Virtually everyone in Albany has rr since VZ does not offer fios in the city and dsl is crap here. More than half the population are students who need broadband as a requirement for school and the rest of the population is made up from progressive employees at various universities and hospitals and the ghetto where everyone has the triple tier. There is a free municipal wifi network, but the signal is weak and typically works well only by a window by big streets, called AlbanyFeeNet. -- This is not the greatest post in the world, no, this is just a tribute!

I do not watch TV and there is not much advertizing. I have whatever is standard. I got this account in 2001 and back then it was 39.99 for rr, no gimmicks, no choices. On speedtests I get between 17 and 24 down (usually around 23) and just about a mbit up.
not too worried since I have this all day...
