Everything is fine unless you use the service, then you will have to pay through the nose. Back to the Voice FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt). Buy a package of N GB of data you will probably not use or pay through nose for any excess over your CAP. After all it worked since 1983 for voice. The Wireless weasels want instant ROI. Yep people can't wait. No one invests for the LONG term anymore. Which is why our economy sucks and will continue to have these sucky periods from now on. Hell I'm 41 and no spring chicken. Still I don't need instant ROI on an investment. I'm still 20-25 years away from retiring. All that matters is what my investment is worth THEN. Making decisions for short term gain will ensure my investment won't be worth shit in 25 years. Smart move. NOT.

Most of our citizens never really started saving for their retirement once their employers began dumping their unsustainable pension plans. The savings rate has been minimal for many years, even negative in some cases. But that didn't stop anyone from buying big luxury homes, SUVs, flat screen TVs, etc, that they can't afford. We're a gluttonous society that has no problem "keeping up with the Joneses", just retirement.

So while I agree with what you say, I think that statement just needs to be expanded a little. Another reason this economy sucks is that people spend themselves into a paycheck to paycheck scenario... if more people had a savings, this economy would have seen a much slower slip, vs. this huge fall off the cliff that we had.
On another note, in most cases, I have to laugh at people, at the collapse of the market recently, who pulled their stock/401's on the low... it came back, so did most people's money.. I was happy to buy on the low - made a big chunk of change last year so far.

I have three mortgages, a vehicle loan, one school loan, and a secured personal loan, and the largest interest rate that my "loan-shark" bank is using to prey on me is 6.25%. The horror..... Don't blame banks for personal choices to spend beyond what people can afford.
