Re: caps are for saps said by Big Dawg 23:Enjoy Sprint. Verizon will not die because people don't take the data plan. I see them still offering Unlimited to Phones as they do now because of the limitation. Data cards are totally different. According to my boss who is a Sprint customer, he has a unlimited data card now but if he upgrades it goes to a 5GB cap. At least that is what he was told. sprint only caps their 3g network at 5GB,
sprint allows for unlimited bandwidth on their 4g (wimax) network.
what your boss has is an old legacy contract where he has unlimited usage on their 3g network. -- At first I thought everyone on the highway was drunk but then I realized I was driving in Florida |

| Well... Clearwire/Clear/Sprint/Time Warner Mobile Broadband/et al DO have limits on the WiMax network.
Per Clear's own website:
Unlimited plans subject to certain limitations described in CLEAR’s Acceptable Use Policy. For details, go to www.clear.com/legal/aup.

They state they have a right to alter service if you are impacting network congestion, but it doesn't have a broadly specific defined cap. All ISPs have similar conditions.
I think the differences between Verizon/ATT and Sprint 4G will be that Sprint will eventually structure limits inline with cable operators since they don't have a landline broadband network direct to homes. VZW/ATT will structure 4G limits similar to 3G because they do have landland broadband networks. So Sprint be forced to have less limits than VZW/ATT - good for the consumer.
Verizon can go ahead and do per use charges/caps if they want, but someone will be out there who does not.
This seems to validate WiMAX's claims that it costs less to rollout than LTE. Verizon is essentially agreeing to it. |
