Kotis join:2002-08-16 Plano, TX | Need recommendation for triple play in Plano I currently have DirectTV and ATT DSL/phone. I have two HD TVs and two DVRs, the bill is $85/month with the HD and DVR service. The ATT phone/cable service is $90/mo for 4M/512k service and US long distance. Other than the DSL occasionally not working for a minute or two (occurs about 3 times a week that I am aware of) the service is fine. The primary issue is cost.
I have 4 options:
I can keep this set-up. Go to Verizon FiOS Move to ATT U-verse Move to TimeWarner
What is the best path for me? Which should I eliminate, which is the best for me? |

 | If you can get it, I believe FiOS would be the best for you. You should be able to get your TV with 2 receivers and a whole-house DVR as well as 25M/15M for not much over $100/month after taxes and fees. -- Ali Geos Communications Representative |

Kotis join:2002-08-16 Plano, TX | It looks like it would cost $130/month (plus taxes?) and would include one HD DVR and a HD set top box. The HD DVR can only record 2 shows at a time which is a problem... (vs 4 shows with my two DVR's (and I frequently need 3) but worse the DVR can only hold 20 hrs of content.
I would much better, faster internet (I think) even though it is shared, and better phone service but the TV, I understand, is poorer quality, and the DVR service is limited. |

 | One thing to point out with FIOS is the HD is not that impressive and I think it's $10 per month. The picture is not that much better and the main problem is when you turn the channel there is about a 4 second delay for the high def stations. I still would go with the FIOS and it is better than ATT U-verse. Time Warner might be slightly cheaper but ptobably not enough to affect your decision. |

1 edit | reply to Kotis I have FIOS at my apartment here in Denton and Dish at my parents in Houston. I love the FIOS internet, but actually like Dish better for TV, especially with their HD-DVR. The FIOS DVR sucks!! I have been considering dumping FIOS TV and just using them for internet and going back to Dish for TV, as long as I can pick up the satellites from my balcony. |
