FCC Suggests screwing you out of more money

Great, so they've done absolutely nothing to help broadband deployment, don't seem to understand the concept of competition, haven't fixed the USF, and now they want another tax? Are we going to rely on Apple and Amazon to properly use the funds, the way we've trusted the telco's with the USF? Can I get some of the crack being passed around at the FCC?

There is no another tax? You do realize that if you buy something from Amazon and aren't charged tax you are legally required in most states to pay that tax. Just because you choose to not pay that tax doesn't mean it's not supposed to be paid.

Do I like the idea of paying sales tax? No. Is it going to happen? Yes. Would it be helpful if ther was some uniformity? Yes.

But what "uniformity" can you have when every state/county/city has a different sales tax rate? Do we all pay the highest rate in the country, or do the people who live in the highest rate areas catch a break?

My concern isn't the tax itself. It's who's managing it. The FCC has proven they are useless when it comes to protecting consumers. So this plan will either go no where, or it will pad the pockets of those who "support" the commissioners.

We already have uniformity. If you order from a business which has a presence in your state you pay sales tax. Otherwise, you don't.

Seems quite uniform and fair to me.
