Re: So ... Did anything happen?

I'm vaguely curious to learn if anyone in the BBR Forums who has been following this thread actually tuned in!
I started following the VUC about a month ago, mainly because I read mgraves1 See Profile blog "Graves on SOHO VoIP" and he talks about VUC frequently.

The day of the voipathon, I was working on a friend's website who wants to start offering hosted VoIP, so I thought I'd tune in for awhile instead of listening to the radio, or music on my iPod.

I used my iPod Touch and Skype to listen in that Friday morning, and later in the day, I called in using their INum number. Both had excellent voice quality, except my Callcentric account cut me off after two hours on the INum. I went into my account and changed the max duration so it wouldn't do that.

Overall, there were some interesting conversations, and I enjoyed hearing from folks in other countries. I do what I can to stay up with what's going on in the VoIP industry, and the VUC is another good way to do that.

Re: [General] Voip Users Voipathon

I was on the voipathon call from 9am CDT to about 10pm CDT. I took the helm for several hours in the late afternoon so that Randy could recharge a little.

The voipathon was little less voip-ish, the topics of discussion were whatever anyone wanted to bring up. From 11am CDT, the normal time of the weekly calls, it got a little more voip-specific.

We even got the crew from the Freeswitch developers conf call to join in for a while. In that case we had three conference bridges interconnected; Talkshoe, ZipDX & the Freeswitch bridge. Two of the three were in wideband.

My involvement in VUC, which goes back a little over two years, has been a very rewarding experience. As such, when I can I join in the call each Friday. Sometimes I promote the VUC calls in this forum, usually when I remember and when the topic seems to be of general interest.

In my very subjective option (I created the call over three years ago) a lot of you on DSLR would enjoy being a part of our calls. I'm sure several of you download them after the fact, but you'd be very welcome to talk, not just listen. If you have any questions, most of the time there would be someone who'd be able to help.

We have a great group, including Michael, who has done a lot to raise the level over the last couple of years and several others with with a lot of experience in setting us VoIP systems. Some of the lurkers are people from Siemens Gigaset, Polycom, several VoIP providers, a lot of open source project people, VoIP resellers and authors of technical books.

Enough of the commercial, I just believe it's a great thing and that you'd like and maybe benefit from it
