Looks like in your case, AM radio station interference between 1450-1650 Khz, probably stations near you. Here in metro Detroit I get interference from 760 and 800 AM stations, but cause no problems.

Actually there's a all news station on the 1590 dial about 2-3 miles down the road.

Edit: Looks like all the interference is coming from the near by am dials... thanks for the heads up, just trying to understand all this.

So yep, that explains the noise in the lower frequency bands.
