NYC Metro | Ultra Speed Connections Nice. But it is definitely true that most people don't need that sort of bandwidth yet. I consider myself a heavy user and am quite happy with my 20/5 connection from FIOS. Somewhere along the line, the cost benefit drops sharply for the vast majority of users, including the 'nerds.' The only people (considering residential subs) I can see justifying $100/month or more for a connection are either rich people who just want to have the best of everything even if they don't use it, or ultranerds who just want to have a connection that fast for bragging rights.
