They did not upgrade all of their towers to 3G as the statement above would seem to indicate. -- Live carefully today! Tonight you may answer for your actions. |

 | Ah yes, correct, AT&T actually said "all of our 3G towers," so I'll correct that. Thank you. |

 | Drained thanks to the backhaul there being shared with the rest of Los Angeles, I assume. |

 | it would be impressive if not for the 1500+ms ping. My sprint phone (HTC Hero) does 2.5mbit/1mbit all day long with less than 120ms latency. |
|
 | Ya because nobody uses sprint any more. HAHA |

 | reply to en102 Exactly. I live in Pennsylvania, in a place with only Edge service and I get a whopping 119K down and 98K up. I'd love to see 3.2M... If I had Verizon, I'd have 3G since AT&T sees no point in upgrading us to 3G here. |

 | I hardly ever use the browser on the phone, i'm more concerned with how well Remote desktop and other time sensitive applications run. |

Issues on AT&T: Intermittent lag Issues on Sprint: EVDO -> 1x often, and if a call of page comes in, session typically drops. (does drop for calls). -- Canada = Hollywood North |

 | reply to en102 Real world comparison figures would indicate a 3mpbs - 4mbps for a 7.2 connection. You are actually right on the money. That is a very good connection. |

Just surfing the web or downloading apps which is mostly web traffic anyway. Do you really need to worry about ping times? -- ...I don't have a 16mb speedy connection, I fly through the net at low altitudes! |

 | In fact I do. I use my phone as a SSH/RDP tool to help me assist my clients. I use it as a personal hotspot, to do the same with my laptop. Latency IS important to some people. |
