Re: Skeptical

I doubt Verizon getting the iPhone will cause nearly as many issues on their network as it did for AT&T. To start, AT&T had the pleasure of having a bunch of users flock to their network simply because there was no other carrier to choose from. This meant that every single user that wanted an iPhone HAD to switch to AT&T. With the phone moving to Verizon, it will still be carried on more than one network. The users will be split between the two carriers and Verizon won't get hit as hard as AT&T did.

I don't think that anyone can argue that Verizon wouldn't have been a better choice for the iPhone from day one, and that ATT was way behind Verizon in cell infrastructure, then and probably now as well. Part of that is GSM's disadvantage compared with CDMA in terms of range and data handling, but most of it comes from ATT's lack of insight.

No one will ever know if Verizon's network would had struggled like AT&T's did. The thing is, there had never been a phone like the iPhone, which demanded such heavy internet use. Once people started buying them like hotcakes, they ate up all of AT&T's bandwidth. Now that AT&T's had time to upgrade their network, things have returned to normal.

But at the same time, what att (3f) has over the other carriers out there is the ability to use voice/data at the same time.. in my opinion, that is what made the iPhone.. the "iPhone"... not being able to use voice and data at the same time is a step back... I'd never want a CDMA version of the phone and I hate using it in EDGE.. I REALLY multi task while on the phone.. with out it, I don't think I'd really like the iPhone as much..
