| T Mobile is more likely candidate If Apple ends the exclusive contract with AT&T, it is then more likely to see an iphone go to T-Mobile before Verizon.
Where Verizon may be jockeying for position is for the LTE version of the Iphone where Verizon might be able to get some short term exclusivity simply because it will be the only one with running LTE for a while.
Apple is to be busy developping/debugging the LTE version, it shouldn't be bothered with having to do the same for the old CDMA stuff that is a dead end anyways. |

All the rumors swirling about are centered around a CDMA iPhone. T Mobile is not a huge player in the US market, no where near as huge as Verizon Wireless.
Look at the time line. Apple usually rolls out iPhone updates mid year. Roll out the latest GSM iPhone mid year, and announce the CDMA iPhone for Verizon.
Production (rumors say) is slated to begin in September. With units hitting stores later that year. Just in time for the holiday rush.
You'll see people lined up around VZW stores waiting in line to buy the #1 on their gift list the Verizon capable iPhone.
It's the next logical step for Apple, and unless AT&T backs a cargo ship of $1000 bills up to AT&T headquarters, it's exactly the route Apple should take.
iPhone on T Mobile? Who gives a shit? iPhone on Verizon? MEGA MEGA hype, and huge publicity.
Steve's a smart guy, and if he's guessing I will be willing to pay my pro rated ETF in January (I skip the holiday megarush, a boycott if you will) to ditch my Storm for a Verizon iPhone, he would be right.
By the time November rolls around, all those VZW Wireless devotes will be drooling at Apple's kneecaps to get a Verizon iPhone.
It would make the CDMA iPhone THE hot item for holiday gift giving. -- Petty people are disproportionally corrupted by petty power |

A largely network-agnostic LTE iPhone is a given anyway; if Apple can make a cubic shit-ton of cash off of any fraction of Verizon's CDMA subscribers now, why wouldn't they go ahead and print up some money today before cashing in on upgrades tomorrow? Selling the platform to users they've already captured is easier than converting BlackBerry/WinMo/DumbPhone users anyway. If you anticipate a fifty percent take rate from ninety million subscribers and all the support issues that come from a new-to-Verizon UI, it would be a failure of due diligence not to blunt their learning curve with a term-limited CDMA rollout. |
