Wakefield makes history in win vs. Tribe CLEVELAND -- The knuckleballer just keeps on going. And now it can be said that no pitcher in Red Sox history has thrown more innings than Tim Wakefield.
While pitching the Red Sox to a 3-2 victory over the Indians, Wakefield picked up that impressive milestone along the way, surpassing Roger Clemens.
The record-setting out was a popup off the bat of Russell Branyan in the seventh that put Wakefield at 2,776 1/3 innings in a Boston uniform. The win was No. 191 of his career, with 177 of those coming for Boston. Read Story
