Out of curiosity, is it customary to offer pro-rated refunds when some time is paid in advance? I would assume not, since the point of prepayment is for the user to get a discount, and for the provider to be guaranteed a customer for a year (or however long.)
If the user can request a pro-rated refund at any time, what benefit to the provider is it to offer a discount on yearly services?
I only have reference of one other company - XM Radio to go on. They will offer pro-rated refunds if you cancel your service early.
This concept of not getting your money back for unused services doesn't make sense to me. Especially since I didn't sign a contract (like I would for, say, cellular service).
