jeesh

I see the F U I got mine mentallity is still here. Millions that were hoping it would work, myself included are sadden to see a real chance of having broadband has fallen.. Most of you don't and will never care, but if for some reason if your service were stripped from you, you'd cry cry cry.. And noone should have to move from an established non rural area just to get broadband.. ((satellite and some wireless don't qualify for true broadband ))

I agree with you.

Not everyone can easily get broadband & many of the larger companies who offer it and only upgrading what they have (not adding more).

I often find it complexing that people feel that you've reached a level of maturity and responsibility if you can accept being riped off or taken advantage of for someone else's gain or enjoyment

But... How many areas would BPL have been tried that did NOT have another provider? Sure it would be great for the areas that no other choices...But i doubt it would have been deployed in these areas...at least not for a long time...

My understanding is that the lobbyists are preventing any build out in these exact unserved markets.

It seems that any new technology that would help people unserved will not be there for a long time.. Yet those with options just continue to add notches to their belt.. If Counties or states refuse us to be service for whatever stupid reason, then I would like for them to stop asking for tax money.. Being they aren't really even giving me anything to show for it in the first place..

Schools suck in this country, fire protection never really does much other than maybe MAYBE help if someone is stuck in the house, other than that, it burns for insurance reason.. Road maint/repair comes from my fuel tax, so thats done. Stop taxing me if i'm just gonna be crapped on anyways

Re: jeesh

You need to get involved on a local level. When franchise agreements are up for renewal, talk to your city or town and ask them what have the franchisees done for you lately.

Maybe if enough people make noise then you'll get something.

Re: jeesh

We have a statewide franchise law now... I'm fuebared on that idea.. Its done and dusted.. To moonpuppy.

Everytime we are approaching our buildout point, a new "thing" comes out such as Uherse from att.. They immediately go back to point 0 and start from scratch.. Again.. And I fear that if ATT does go to fiber to home down the road, it will be as the Vrads get closer and closer.. Which they already are actually. We give out billions of dollars on projects that only benefit a couple elites and a few of their pets in this country.. What is soo bad about actually stimulating the broadband market which will help online sales and video services/gaming to boot? Almost every game seems to want online verification these days, and doing that on dialup is just totally retarded... Especially when if you complain, everyone and their uncle says "why don't you just get dsl?"

Can't tell you how many times i've had these conversations!

Hmmmmm, is that the same attitude that says, gimme my broadband, I don't care who else is affected?

BPL was a bad idea from the get go.

If BPL were the water company, BPL would be like trying to deliver water to your home over a pipe filled with holes.

Sorry that's the way it is but that's the laws of physics.
