At this point...

AT&T needs to step up the game, especially here in Atlanta. Long are gone the days when they said "who needs more than 3mbps". Many neighborhoods still cant u-verse here.

I second that. I've been a reasonably happy Charter HSI customer (OK, no boos and hisses from those parts of the country where Charter is challenged) since 2000 but I'm tired of being without a choice. AT&T U-Verse was launched in my suburb and one street over has it but I don't. I live about a mile from I-64 where there should be lots of fiber. How hard can it be to provide competition over ~6,000' of copper?

Regarding Comcast, I know they have their detractors but kudos to them for rolling out DOCSIS 3.0 and pushing the envelope. While I'm not sure I need 100Mbps, I agree that DSL or even super DSL speeds are starting to sound like Bill Gates and the 640K barrier. I just started an empty Notepad process on 64-bit Win7 and it gulped 1,316K!
