Re: Thanks to the iPhone.. Except I'm not surrounded by hotspots -- I don't live in a metro area at all. So having wifi on in a major city (NYC, for example) might end up being a boon to battery, however for someone like me who would be hours between hot spots, not so much. Even the folks at the local AT&T store recommend for people to turn their wifi off if they aren't sure there's a hotspot nearby.
