Speedstream 5100 (part # 060-E141-A01)

Hi All:
I posted about my lowered speed in the "Midwest" forum and the helper asked me about my modem stats. I never knew that I could get stats off that modem.
Can anybody help with that question?

Thanks.
aeroman.

Is it the 4 light or 5 light model? (I don't know the "part #" but the number of lights will tell how to do it.)

Thank you very much for writing, Doctor Olds.
You certainly are right there with the facts.
The only problem is that I cannot go directly into the modem and get online stats, because I lose the internet connection, without my router.

Thanks again.
aeroman.

You do not lose the connection, you lose the PPPoE session temporarily. The DSL LED never goes out even when you remove your Router. Your Router has nothing to do with the DSL Stats in the 5100.

Doctor Olds,
thanks for being so quick.
I did the arp -s command, but nothing happened. Was that as it should be?
I have no luck getting any of the ...statx entries to work: "cannot get to the web site offline"
I got the arp -a file o.k.
Somewhere I am missing a connection to my brain.
Please help.

aeroman.

You have to use the MAC ID from the bottom label on the modem, not the one listed in the FAQ as an example only.

When you have it typed correctly and added to the system correctly, it will show up when you rerun the ARP command.

Thanks Doctor Olds.

I'll attach what I got from the arp command. But I don't know what to do with the info.

You open your browser to the Web Interface hidden in the 5100a using the links seen in the FAQ. If you can't remember the links when offline then you can save the FAQ pages to your PC hard drive so you will have the steps and links to read while not connected to the Internet.

Hi Doctor Olds:

I want to thank you for all the help.
I finally got it all together and I got the data. I am going to post it all in my thread in "ATT-Midwest" Forum under the "speed dropped from1200......"
I think that is the proper procedure, isn't it?
Of course the numbers don't mean much to me, but I hope somebody knowledgeable will spot if there is something wrong.

Again thank you very much.

Locking this so we don't have parallel and confusion conversations.

Serial confusing ones are bad enough.
