 | COWs are in use for every home game at Wrigley AT&T rolls out COWs for every CUBs home game even though they have a tower on top of their own building just 1/4 block from the stadium. They are afraid that the high utilization will crash the tower. (The statement about the fear of a tower crash is from an AT&T employee.)
At the same time, just 5 blocks north there is a dead zone that has no 3G service and almost no EDGE service. We're lucky to get 1 bar on the scale of an iPhone or a Blackberry. Most of the time is just says "Scanning" or "no service". (This is OUTSIDE of the building!) After 5 years of complaining to AT&T I'm done. My employer has given me an exemption to move my Blackberry service off the corporate account to Verizon, and my wife is going to give up the iPhone for a Blackberry from Verizon too.
We have had friends over with Verizon phones and they get a solid 5 bar signal in our apartment.
What AT&T can't understand is that it means nothing to have the "Fastest 3G Network" when you have customers that can't get to the network at all. |
