Punishment...

If Comcast's lawyer is advising that customers take up the settlement offer to "punish" Comcast -- then perhaps Comcast should punish itself by donating 150 million extra to organizations like the EFF that are protecting fair rights.

He is not Comcast's lawyer - He is the Lawyer who brought the case and will be paid for his efforts. Thus by saying agree to the settlement, he is protecting the money he will reap once the settlement is approved. Thus although he is not Comcast's Lawyer he still has the same interest in getting the settlement approved as if he were.
