[BC] Telus is blocking yourfilehost videos from loading

After experimenting with another Telus ISP subscriber and a Shaw subscriber, it seems that Telus has blocked all videos from yourfilehost from loading. I ask if you guys will verify that the video doesn't load even though the webpage itself loads.

I've tried it numerous times and the video just ends after the webpage loads.

Loads just fine on my connection. Try resetting your modem and see if it helps.

I just finished resetting the modem and the video still doesn't load, I've tried other videos as well and it's all the same problem.

Site loads, but videos won't play.

but nothing but a freaking harder core pr0n fest on most of the links.

You could always play dangerous and shut off your firewall. Not recommended at all(possible malware dangers). Maybe thats the difference between the Shaw connection and Telus connection?

Don't be n00bish and completely forget that TELUS has no control over what data actually passes over the network of any of it's BGP peers. Take this for example:

»torrentfreak.com/pirate-bay-user···-100305/

also, works fine here in edmonton, on my ubuntu 9.10 system running firefox 3.6.3.

I think the OP's security software is a little too strict. If the page or content doesn't load, it more or less won't because the security software has triggered some sort of content protection.

Thats why telus peers with and/or has transit agreements with carriers around the globe. From the sounds of the story above, that ISP is buying wholesale bandwidth instead of building a network and setting up peering agreements.

Definitely a Telus issue. I tried it on 3 computers... all skip the video.

Is it a routing issue? I don't think so... because if you notice, the first second of the clip plays. So unless that's hosted on somewhere else... I doubt it's the cause. I'm pretty sure the videos are hosted on the same server as the site, also.

Moment I used a VPN, All 3 of my computers could play the videos perfectly. Too lazy to dig into it further tonight... Tomorrow I'll try to confirm the videos are on the same server/host, and if not... check the Tracert, see if it's a Telus, or outside problem/maybe e-mail Telus to alert them of the problem.

video plays without any problem for me. telus wouldn't be blocking it, why would they bother..

if anything, the yourfilehost site could be blocking an ip range coming from telus, not the other way around.

perhaps they had an issue with a user on a telus ip. that's the more likely scenario.

i am having the same problem and i am with telus.
at home, i can't stream any videos from yourfilehost but when i am at school with the same laptop, it works! so definitely a Telus problem. anyone know how to fix this? if Telus is blocking us, i'm going to switch to shaw, i didn't pay for my internet connection to get blocked of what i should visit and what not to visit.

I think psydfx has the right idea. The main Yourhostfile, com Web page is located at [68.232.188.59] and several other locations. The downloads are located at an entirely different location [72.21.81.133]. I cannot test it directly on my machine because I do not use Flash, but when I try to download using the "Download Original File" link, I get a "403 - FORBIDDEN" error. The site responds to a ping/tracert, so the problem has to be in the Web server itself.

More importantly, what IP range are you using? You can quickly find out at »whatismyip.com/
I am using 207.216.219.185

Port moody.

206.116.5.xxx.

E-mailed them asking if they have any IP Ban in place. Doesn't seem likely that they'd ban 207, and 206...

The "Download this file" Link always times out by the way. Even on my remote server.

Quite the weird issue. Unlikely to be an IP ban, too wide of a range... And doesn't affect every user, so it's not a mask ban.

I don't think it's a routing issue... it's been happening to me for over a month, It'd be fixed by now.

I also don't believe Telus would block it... so it leaves me stumped. Guess I'll wait to hear back from them, rule out the Range ban for certain.

IP address 70.68.59.

First second of the clip plays then it ends abruptly. I've also tried this on all the computers at home and none of them would play the video, but when ever I am at school with the laptop or at a friend's who isn't running shaw, it would load perfectly fine.

Is there a solution to the problem?

I have a 209.121.* IP and have absolutely no problem playing the video.
