Re: Verizon Gains 185k FiOS Users, Loses 95k DSL Users

You'll be counted as a 2Q loss. As will I, when it comes to their POTS landline service. Last Saturday, after 21 years with NYNEX->Bell Atlantic->Verizon, the landline went bye bye in favor of Time Warner's Digital Phone service. I've been wanting to switch for years now, but my town was never digital phone serviceable. I'd call up and inquire about it every so often and just about gave up all hope it would ever be. But lo and behold finally, about two weeks ago I got a letter in the mail from TWC saying phone service is now available to my address. I jumped for joy and immediately called up and set up an install appointment.

I LOATHE Verizon like you wouldn't believe, and as of last week Saturday I will NEVER EVER have any of their crappy overrated services in my home ever again. Never had the [dis]pleasure of having their Dead Slow Line service. My CO is 20 some miles and 3 towns away, but thanks to the magic of remote terminals we can now get DSL as of 2008. Got a call once saying DSL is now available in my area and laughed when the guy said you can now get broadband at 3Mb. Sorry dude I'm getting 5x that speed with Road Runner. My Aunt who lives around the corner from me got DSL when it first became available to us, when I use her computer I feel like I'm back on dial up.

Only Verizon related thing I have is a crappy VZW cell phone from work, which I don't pay for and use for work related purposes only and leave it their half the time. Hopefully next year when our contract is up management will brighten up and go back to Sprint. Verizon's Push To Talk service is a complete joke and vastly inferior to Nextel in every way. Not to mention the so called ruggedized VZW PTT handsets are as fragile as fine china. My personal Nextel phone is three years old and has been to hell and back and while scuffed, it's is great shape for what its been through, the stupid VZW phone that is not even a year old is all smashed to hell.

Later on in the year when I put down some coin and buy a decent laptop, I'll be getting Sprint Mobile Broadband service for real internet on the go.

Time Warner - Digital Cable, Digital Phone, Broadband
Sprint - Cellular Phone, Wireless Broadband

Five services that will cost me $400+ a month, I bet Verizon would love to have me as customer. Too bad assholes!

So chalk me up as a loss for Verizon and someone who is not switching to Fios. Even if Fios was available to me, which it probably won't ever be as I live in a rural area and it's not the type of town Verizon likes to go cherry picking in, I wouldn't dream of switching to Fios. Fios is quite possibly the single most overrated service the world has ever seen.

In closing I'd just like to say it's so nice being free from the chains of Verizon, the most despicable company on Earth.

Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, I'm free at last!

I feel you. I was a customer for 16 years until they pissed me off today. To her credit the rep I spoke with was helpful but tech support was not.

What? Are you shocked that there's actually someone on here who doesn't froth at the mouth and get wet in the pants over the almighty Verizon and God's gift, their Fios Service?

I do not understand for the life of me why people are all gaga over this. Especially people who live in areas that Verizon passed over. And even more so those that live a mile or two from areas with Fios but they can't get it themselves. Hello! Are you stupid? Verizon doesn't think you're worth it, so why in the hell would want to support a company that clearly doesn't value your dollar. Your money isn't good enough according to them. Like I said Fios is not available in my area, I don't care if it ever is, because I do not see why it's so great but all they do is piss all over their customers and like idiots their customers lay down and take it because they are so brainwashed into thinking Verizon is telecommunications savior.

@rr.com

Dude you want to sperge out a little more about Verizon? In the end if FIOS had some to your home you would have chosen that over Time Warner because you know it's still a technically better service.

It sounds like you're just upset Verizon didn't wire your neighborhood with fiber optics.

Nice try. No I'm not upset Verizon didn't and hopefully won't ever pass Fios here. I don't want the service and I don't want anything related to that company, not sure how much clearer I can make that. I have used Fios extensively , TV, internet and phone at other peoples house and all I can to is scratch my head and wonder what's so great about it. It is the most overrated service I've ever seen. All Fios is, is over glorified cable.

And no I would not have chosen Fios over Time Warner, not now, not ever. Among many other things, Verizon doesn't offer one of the channels I care most about, MSG HD. Verizon can suck my ass! I just hate the fact that they have hypnotized, mesmerized and completely brainwashed the American public into think they are some sort of digital communications Godsend even though they constantly shit on and rape their customer base. But hey whatever. Verizon and VZW can keep pumping out those commercials telling me how great they are and I will continue to spend hundreds of dollars a month on competing services. Their loss.

To repeat, Fios could be made available to me tomorrow and I would not switch, I don't want the service, I see no benefits of the service.

Oh god, youre a walking TimeWarner commercial, its quite evident now that you mentioned the temporary stranglehold CV has over Verizon with MSGHD. LOL

FiOS is better than cable in EVERY SINGLE aspect of the service whether it be TV , Internet or PHONE. Sorry buddy.

Whatever dude.

Something being better is purely objective and you know what they say about opinions. You Craprizon fangurls are funny. Considering Craprizon doesn’t carry the channel that carries the sports team I live and die for in high def, I say that’s a pretty big deal. Fios TV will never make in big in the Western NY area so long as they don't carry the Sabres in HD. And I can guarantee ZERO commercial establishments (sports bars and grilles specifically) will move to Fios from satellite or cable so long as MSG HD is not available.

Please explain to me how Fios Phone is superior to TW Digital Phone? Fios TV is on par with what I get from TW. Aside from the made up .TV HD channels, NFL Network and the west coast HD feeds of the premiums (used soley to inflate channel counts) I get just about every other HD channel Craprizon carries. I find picture quality on Fios no better then what I get with Time Warner for HD, SD is slightly better, but considering how much SD I watch these days it’s a moot point. Fine their internet is faster, but considering the number of places I can max out my 15Mb Road Runner connection, 25Mb or 50Mb Fios is simply overkill at this point in time.

VERIZON SUCKS ASS! Sorry buddy...
