said by Steve Mehs:You'll be counted as a 2Q loss. As will I, when it comes to their POTS landline service. Last Saturday, after 21 years with NYNEX->Bell Atlantic->Verizon, the landline went bye bye in favor of Time Warner's Digital Phone service. I've been wanting to switch for years now, but my town was never digital phone serviceable. I'd call up and inquire about it every so often and just about gave up all hope it would ever be. But lo and behold finally, about two weeks ago I got a letter in the mail from TWC saying phone service is now available to my address. I jumped for joy and immediately called up and set up an install appointment.
I LOATHE Verizon like you wouldn't believe, and as of last week Saturday I will NEVER EVER have any of their crappy overrated services in my home ever again. Never had the [dis]pleasure of having their
Dead
Slow
Line service. My CO is 20 some miles and 3 towns away, but thanks to the magic of remote terminals we can now get DSL as of 2008. Got a call once saying DSL is now available in my area and laughed when the guy said you can now get broadband at 3Mb. Sorry dude I'm getting 5x that speed with Road Runner. My Aunt who lives around the corner from me got DSL when it first became available to us, when I use her computer I feel like I'm back on dial up.
Only Verizon related thing I have is a crappy VZW cell phone from work, which I don't pay for and use for work related purposes only and leave it their half the time. Hopefully next year when our contract is up management will brighten up and go back to Sprint. Verizon's Push To Talk service is a complete joke and vastly inferior to Nextel in every way. Not to mention the so called ruggedized VZW PTT handsets are as fragile as fine china. My personal Nextel phone is three years old and has been to hell and back and while scuffed, it's is great shape for what its been through, the stupid VZW phone that is not even a year old is all smashed to hell.
Later on in the year when I put down some coin and buy a decent laptop, I'll be getting Sprint Mobile Broadband service for real internet on the go.
Time Warner - Digital Cable, Digital Phone, Broadband
Sprint - Cellular Phone, Wireless Broadband
Five services that will cost me $400+ a month, I bet Verizon would love to have me as customer. Too bad assholes!
So chalk me up as a loss for Verizon and someone who is not switching to Fios. Even if Fios was available to me, which it probably won't ever be as I live in a rural area and it's not the type of town Verizon likes to go cherry picking in, I wouldn't dream of switching to Fios. Fios is quite possibly the single most overrated service the world has ever seen.
In closing I'd just like to say it's so nice being free from the chains of Verizon, the most despicable company on Earth.
Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, I'm free at last!
I feel you. I was a customer for 16 years until they pissed me off today. To her credit the rep I spoke with was helpful but tech support was not.
