Re: Need Help with BOINC and UbuntuThat's the fix for SSL CA cert path. For the error you noted they say it's probably due to incorrect date. Check your date and fix if necessary.
If it's not a date problem then I'm stumped as I've never seen that problem. |

About 95% of these problems usually relate to issues with user/group permissions. I'd start by verifying the user of the usb drive had all the read/write permissions necessary. |

These commands worked for me two weeks ago when I had the same problem. 1. cd /var/lib/boinc-client 2. sudo mv ca-bundle.crt{,.bak} 3. sudo wget » boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/ ··· ndle.crt -O ca-bundle.crt.upstream 4. sudo cp -a ca-bundle.crt{.upstream,} In step 3 the link is "http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/export/16195/trunk/boinc/curl/ca-bundle.crt" without the quotes and without the >> in front of it. Posting this message auto-creates a link so its not posting properly. If confused about step 3 check this site: » bugs.launchpad.net/ubunt ··· g/246205Hopefully Ubuntu 10 will resolve this in a couple of days. |

Yeah, that's the ticket. That worked...thanks.
If anyone is interested, I also installed Dotsch/UX on a pendrive and it worked like a charm. I'll prob go with the Dotsch distro in the future over ubuntu 9.x |

Greetings, One trick that you can use to always know where BOINC is storing the juicy goods of the work units it to bring up the boinc manager just after starting the application and take a look at the "Messages" tab. Look for the "Data directory:" log entry. This will tell you, upon every startup where BOINC is looking for work. This is great when troubleshooting. That said, I noticed you were looking to change distro's. Please keep in mind that the "curve" of running BOINC doesn't necessarily change. The issues do sometimes but the core of Linux is fairly standard. Cheers, ayoustic |

The prob is that I can't seem to figure out how to boot Ubuntu 10 from a USB drive. No prob with Ubuntu 9, but then it has the issues posted above.
I think the Dotsch distro is better for my purposes since it's easy to install on a bootable USB drive and it runs BOINC natively. |

I've only been fooling around with it for a little while, but wouldn't that be what would happen if the drive wasn't persistent? |

Don't know what you mean by persistent. |
