 | Modern Masters Countertop Paint Has anyone tried this product?... »modernmasterstransformations.com/
I've never seen it before until I went to Lowe's this afternoon. Salesguy says they are selling like hotcakes and he has got nothing but positive comments, but he is a salesguy. -- This bud's for you! |

| reply to Weedpicker Seems like a cheap and possibly harmful knockoff of a new technology> »www.physorg.com/news184310039.html
They don't readily offer any info on the chemical make up of the said product. That would be a red flag to me and should be to all consumers nowadays.
I would definitely research this much further before excepting an opinion from a salesman.

4 edits | reply to Weedpicker I've seen similar products at home depot for a while now »modernmasterstransformations.com···ty.shtml has some msds but there's not much info probably some kind of epoxy. It might be ok for a bathroom but I'm not sure I want a coating on my kitchen counter.
edit: »www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=208 I think this is the one I've seen at HD; seems familiar but I'm not completely sure. |

Either way, unless I was just trying to pretty up a countertop in preparation for sale, and didn't have the money to replace it, I'd probably never use this stuff.

They had samples of the product on Formica counter tops in Lowes and it felt more like a granite finish than a corian finish.
After more research, most comments I am seeing are very positive. -- This bud's for you! |

KenPremium,MVM join:2003-06-16 Markle, IN | But it's not granite, you are just painting over your old particle board countertops. So what nunya said is quite correct. You can paint over your old particle board counter tops for $248, or just buy new ones with a pattern of your choosing for the same price or less. I see this product as being for people that just don't have the know how to replace their countertops and would rather pay slightly more money to just paint their countertops with a product that probably won't last as long. |

Slightly more? Since when is $3000 "slighly" more than $250? Is Reaganomics making a comeback? -- This bud's for you! |

nunyaWho is John Galt?Premium,MVM join:2000-12-23 O Fallon, MO kudos:8 | reply to Weedpicker Since when does granite = paint? All you are doing is "redecorating" a formica counter top. Nobody is going to believe it is really granite.
I can get imitation granite in formica for $136.00 for a 12' L counter. |

Secondly, I know there is imitation formica that looks like granite and it looks like shit. This stuff has a texture feel to it and from the counter top I seen, it looked damn good.
Lastly, I'll let you all know in a few weeks because we've decided to try it out and see for ourselves how it looks. -- This bud's for you! |

LeeWL join:2002-11-10 Morrisville, NC | reply to Weedpicker I saw this stuff in Lowes the other day. No ide if it works long term, but it is not just a paint. It appears to be a primer and 2 or 3 coats and each is very high build up. Looked close to 20-30 mils to me. You could easily feel the thickness of each layer on teh sample.
So, that at least makes me feel like it has a fighting chance to be durable. I have to imagine that the cleaning and priming operations are very important and it will all probably be some pretty nasty smelling stuff. I also would love to see how this works. |

 | reply to Weedpicker Have you finished this project yet? Was looking at it in Lowe's today. |
