Well, Term has done a great job with this new upstart. I know that with allot of members from Merlin's finding this site, it will be the place to visit. We should all just be patient until we get the whole story about why Merlin's is down. |

I just checked and you can't even ping Merlins Portal. It can't find the host what so ever. I guess it is permanently down. Wish we would get some word because it was the best site to search. I haven't found another site that was so easy to search. |

Hope is not lost yet. I can ping their server ip. Not going to give it out because I don't want to cause them any more issues by multiple people pinging it.
Anyways, looks like a external DNS and http server issue as of right now.
When I ping their ip, the internal DNS gives the correct site of "merlins-portal.net" but obviously externally this is not the case. Once their web server is back up and running, dynamic DNS will solve this.
Looks like their web server died and they have to rebuild. I hope this doesn't take too long. Hopefully they didn't get sabotaged and they still have their data. |

Are you sure it was there own IP address and not an IP from a run of the mill web host that they use? If its the latter then obviously it will respond as it may have gotten reassigned to another client or node in the datacenter or may be waiting for reassignment/reuse.
Sites I had several years ago, if I ping the old IP it will respond just fine, doesnt mean the site is going to come back.

I was a long time member at Merlins, started to use Matrix too but my choice ended on nzbsrus.com. They get stuff posted faster than any other sites. I ditch Matrix when i found out that they filter out NZBs like those posted by other sites.
Really retarded cause in the end, its the users there who dont get the chance of seeing/grabbing stuff they might need. |

Sux that Merlins is down and pretty much done.. I agree that nzbsrus.com is the next best thing but binsearch.info is great for pretty much everything.. Its very unorganized but can be navigated and used if you know what your doing.. Merlins was the best.. Does anyone recomend a better progam than Grabit? |

Why did you even bother asking last minute donations and executed an account freeze for all members?
In all honesty, I believe you pocketed the money and ran. This is becoming quite common amongst UK based NZB sites. A few to name that have done this that were based in the UK.
