REQUESTING : pingtest.net results with Xplornet

I am looking to switch to Xplornet, which is the only available option to me. I need it for gaming, and my current provider (I use a telus mobility stick) has a very high latency therefore I am not able to play.

»pingtest.net/

If someone could post their results, I would greatly apreciate it!

@enbridge.com

STOP!!!, search "xplornet" and just look at the complaints, fine to check text email and web pages like the weather and news but forget about gaming, flash, video, or any other file larger than 2 MB... look very close at the service 1Mbps = 124KB/s FAP at as early as 20 "meg" is 20,000 bits thats 20 Mbit or 2.5 MB... 1 Bite is 8 bits 1KB is 8000 bits 8Kb. custemer service is about the same level as a wallmart greeter. good luck... stay with the hot stick! or move or hope for point to point (tower) only slightly better

What is your pings(lag) with Telus mobility stick?

I suppose you are looking at wireless? As satellite is in the general area of 1000ms pings.
Wireless can have lag spikes during primetime, if on a crowded tower.
Many games need a static IP($10 extra) on Xplornet wireless to game properly, as Xplornet has a double NAT setup. It's bad network configuring but saves on IP address's by treating the users as being on a corporate network, with the tower having the actual Internet IP.

Xplornet traffic throttling policy.

And they are now targeting most download forms of filesharing with heavy throttles(Site specific).

Xplornets 3.5Ghz wireless units are a licensed frequency and are not as subject to the potential interference problems of the 900Mhz and 2.4Ghz units.

You can also ping or tracert via the command line, to be able to see what route your connection is taking.

I've seen a lot of complaints, yes, and that is why I wanted to know what kind of latency Xplornet has.

It would be with the fixed wireless, I have an antenna a couple hundred meters away.

Thanks again if anyone can post result from that pingtest.net website.

My biggest problem with Xplornet, as a potential customer, is that I feel that I need to take all the risk.
They expect the customer to engage in a 3 year contract with a $450 cancellation penalty.

You can get a no contract version or a one year contract, but then you get to pay extra for the install, since you have more of a chance to quit if you have a no contract term. Quitting would be based on if a tower gets oversold and speeds tank.
I have not checked lately on if there are any spot beams left open for new sales on the Anik F2.
The almost two year old Hughesnet KA Band(spaceway3) is in the southern sections of some provinces. Still good speeds according to posts.
Mid 2011 is the launch(then in orbit testing) of the ViaSat1 satellite with high throughput. All new user equipment required for it, if the user is using the Anik F2 at the time).

Xplornets traffic throttling policy. Some data still needed to be added at this time(well since 3 months ago), to comply with the CRTC disclosure rules.

Cancellation policy.

to receive from you the lesser of the two amounts: $25 multiplied by the number of full months remaining in the non-cancelable initial term, as specified on your signed Service Agreement or change of Service Form, or a one time charge of $450.
