 | Anybody Else With Nightly Speed Issues Recently? I don't see how it could be just me but, as usual, JBB refuses to acknowledge that they're having any issues. So, has anybody else been seeing almost nightly slowdowns over the last few weeks?
I'd been noticing the problems for a while, but only last night started actually poking around to try and find some info to feed to JBB and point them in the right direction. Using primarily speedtest.net, I found that I was getting my full 12mbps to their node in New York, but less than half that to the closer points in Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia, with rates hitting as low as 1mbps to the test spot in San Francisco.
I have to do more tests tonight. At this point, it seems like there's something up routing-wise, presumably something that's affecting traffic to everywhere except New York. I have yet to do a traceroute to a speedy NY location, but all the other ones I've been doing seem to be pointing to a slowdown at the point JBB hands off to level3.net.
I'll know more if I'm able to get a traceroute to NY tonight, but is anybody else seeing similar symptoms? |
notorreyusPremium join:2010-05-14 Christiansburg, VA | It definitely sounds like there is a peering issue to me.
I'm actually getting JetBroadband's JetNet4 [16down/2up] Business Class cable installed tomorrow morning. Hopefully I won't experience the same issues that you starting to see...but if it's a peering issue, it probably won't make a difference that I'm on a business class plan. I'll be testing the service very extensively tomorrow and throughout the weekend as I must have really fast, consistent reliability as I work online remotely from home.
I'll post my results this weekend! |
