The smell is from the spill. I'm sitting at the police station right now and can smell it. Doesn't bother me, just is "different". Certainly doesn't smell like spring!

Jail a few BP executives, with an escape clause, get the problem fixed or stay locked up until it is fixed! Perhaps then, they will act.
The Gulf has had a pretty bad spin this last few years, and needs a break for a decade or two. |

What the US and BP should have done, was to immediatelly ask for the so-called "rigid sweeping arms" from The Netherlands. They finally did it (much too late) and some are going to be transported by plane from Holland now. (In fact the US should have themselves lots of ships standing-by equiped with them).
They cannot stop the oil leaking deep down at the bottom of the sea, but they can at least remove lots of oil from the surface of the sea.
