OpenDNS is redirecting you, and you may be able to opt out by going to your OpenDNS control panel and unchecking "typo correction" under the Settings option.

If you are using alternative firmware (such as Tomato) in your router, there are other ways to avoid redirection by using the dnsmasq configuration page.

Sorry, but that is not an OpenDNS redirect.

It appears to be a "feature" (Cisco Web Assistant) of the router firmware which I would hope can be disabled through the router configuration.

This thread discusses the same occurrence on another router model:

»homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wirel···p/248214

Yikes! I read the threads referenced elsewhere, and it does seem that router malware is likely to be at fault. One poster claims that the Cisco Web Assistant can be disabled in order to resolve the problem.

OpenDNS may also redirect queries to its own servers (including some Google searches), and that still may be something that the OP wishes to disable.

In the meantime, brickbats to Cisco for its bad firmware. Thanks for pointing it out.

You might want to look at dd-wrt for the router.

Sorry to see that - I use dd-wrt (and openDNS) on everything I set up - I have not used stock Liky firmware in years.

I personally would stick with the Linksys brand due to their GENEROUS return/replacement policies. They do make a good solid product.

You might consider trying a different linksys model - do you need N wireless?

I have had GREAT success using the WRT310N and WRT320N's running DD_WRT.

I run both N and G networks at home. I use the 320N's as a wireless backbone between my cable modem (in a closet on one end of the house) and my home office on the other end of the house. I have a 270Mbps wireless N link between my main router and a client bridge (both wrt320N's). In my home office I have my home media server as well as my work computers. I stream video and audio back across the N backbone for distribution to the G clients as well as share home folders.

I use an older wrt54GL (also with dd-wrt) as a G AP off the main router for my G clients (PC's, VOIP, TV/Roku, iPhones and other client bridges).

I have never seen this redirect issue many are reporting while using dd-wrt.

If you cant run third party firmware on it you are at Linky's mercey as to if they want to "fix" this - remember - they get $$ kickback on the redirect so its a revenue stream for them.

I just upgraded my wrt310N's to WRT320N's

Good size memory and flash allow any version of dd-wrt. Faster CPU and gig switch.

I just paid $75 at Amazon.com

The Ralink chipset used does not have drivers available (open source) for use with DD-WRT.

There is a page on Linksys Customer Help here:

(The router model in the screenshot there is a WRT610N.)
