The significant benefits accrue to Comcast NBC Universal: greater span of control over the market, asserting control from production through distribution, preferential treatment options on video and internet distributions channels for their content, potential to degrade production and delivery of other producers / distributors content, reducing choices by limiting the market - your typical monopolistic stuff, nothing new. Must be HUGE sums of money at stake to throw this many buckets of money carried by this many lobbyists at the Congress. Taken to the logical conclusion, the video market starts to look a lot like the present cellular phone business. |
