[NEW MEXICO] Can Someone Give Me Some Info On Santa Fe, NM?

I'm thinking of moving to Santa Fe, NM. Can anyone give me some info on the City? What areas would be nice areas to find a one-bedroom apartment? What would the prices be like? What are the goods and bads of the City? Any info would help. Gotta get out of La La land. Thanks.

Santa Fe is a hoity-toity, artsy-fartsy community.

My bro has a friend who lives in Santa Fe - and we have family that lives in Albequerque. I'll see if I can get the specifics from my bro's friend tonight and post back tomorrow.

I just talked to my bro and he said his friend probably wouldn't be a good person to ask...lol

The whole city has "covenants" - sort of like HOA rules. Like I said, hoity-toity. If you don't mind your neighbors complaining that you car needs a car wash then it might be the place for you

I suppose real estate agents in the area may have rental company referrals you could speak with.

Santa Fe is a real head trip. If you like the area (it's beautiful) and can stand the people (flaky as f**k) and can afford the COL (stupid expensive), I would recommend the condos/apartments north of the city across from the veteran's cemetery.

Your dirty '93 Corolla would feel more at home in Taos.

I'm in the mountains east of Albuquerque. Santa Fe is 50 minutes north via a twisty mountain road and Albuquerque is 20 minutes west via I-40. This lets me work with the rats in the city without having to live with them.

Thanks....You sparked my interest. What is Taos like? I want to leave LA, was thinking of Santa Fe, and also Seattle. However, it rains so much in Seattle that I don't know if I could deal with it.

Same as Santa Fe (artsy-fartsy, spiritual, dope smoking drop-outs, and laid back natives) only not as californicated and stuck on itself.

Since you live in NM, what do you think? Would a retired Professional, who smokes cigars and not dope (used to when I was much younger though); who still likes to listen to heavy rock 'n roll and meet attractive women, like it better in Santa Fe or Taos....Or neither?.....Won't hold you to it. Just your best guess.

Your options for those activities would be better in Santa Fe.

Thanks.....I think I'm going to spend 3 days in each place and then make a decision.

You are 100% right about Santa Fe.....I drove there from LA, and it is hoity-toity, artsy fartsy. I drove down to Albuquerque and really liked it. I'm moving there in the next couple of months. Thanks for the heads-up.

Did you take any pics you would care to share?

I assume Santa Fe had too much of a pretentiously pompous culture for you. Is Santa Fe like Sedona, AZ?

You mentioned what you didn't like about Santa Fe, but what is it you like about Albuquerque?

It really wasn't a vacation trip for me, so sorry, I didn't take any pics.

I've never been to Sedona, so I can't compare the two. I just like a bigger city, and Albuquerque just seemed nice. The NE Heights area is pretty new and built-up. The people were friendly, but not pompous at all. I also like the warm, dry weather, kinda like where you live. I like the Las Vegas/Boulder City area too, but I am a compulsive yet reformed gambler, so it wouldn't be a good place for me to live (although Albuquerque does have it's share of casinos).

Another thing I like...Rents are less then half the price of LA's!

EDIT: Plus, depending where you live, you can get 40/20 Internet through Qwest......20 up!

BTW...You were also quite correct in your posts about Santa Fe. I never made it to Taos, but I heard it's pretty similar in pompousness, yet much smaller.
