All this director has really done is make the movie studios aware that he is a legal liability. If you were a large movie studio would you want to work with a director that you knew was going to tie you up in multiple lawsuits that usually do not turn out to make a profit from those that you sue?
The director DIRECTS the movie. The director doesn't produce or distribute the film.
