Haha, TMO must be dancing...

...because these idiots are clearly digging their own grave: new iPhone will barely catch up with current Android OS and phones, ATT's network is still the shittiest network of America and price gouging is so ridiculous now that it will drive people away en masse, likely to TMO and its new, crazy-fast yet overage-free HSPA+ network: »[T-Mobile] Impressive 3G results

Hardly. People like the iPhone, and since 3G doesn't work with an iPhone on TMO there will not be a dance going on.

"Hardly" - iPhone is way behind of Android (reportedly selling above 100k per day) and updates and renewals are coming and people will switch, ATT makes them this decision very easy.

Better phones, the fastest data network in America and a LOT CHEAPER prices - this is what TMO can offer.

The only thing is that some rural pockets might never get fast data - but hey, 80-90% of the US lives in metropolitan areas, I cannot blame TMO for concentrating on them...

The pricing affects ALL phones, not just the iPhone.

Right and that puts TMO even better position for switchers.

Okay... now for the omissions.

iPhone, when new, was selling incredibly fast too. Android is new and is being sold on multiple carriers.

You can't 100% compare "andriod" to iPhone as android is the o/s on various hardware - while most android installs are pretty much the same, SOME carriers do modify the software a bit, as they're allowed to.

Tmo may have the fastest data network, but their coverage has more holes in it than even AT&T does.

iPhone being "way behind android" is pure opinion the way you state it.

iPhone IS only hurting itself because it IS limited to one US carrier right now. If iPhone were to be released on other carriers, over night, the phones would sell out faster than they could be made. Many people avoid it becuase they don't care for AT&T.

Your post commending both android and TMO almost reminds me of the very thing AT&T says in their commercials answering to Verizon ads.

What I WILL agree with you and others on is that AT&T just made yet another fine decision to hold back any advancement with their, yet again, NEW AND IMPROVED way to screw a customer... they've been doing this since 1875!

Also, I'm glad you said "90-90% of the US lives in metro areas" and "I cannot blame X for concentrating on them"... that very sentiment of yours shall be forever applied to every other statement made about companies choosing and electing to focus on population areas over rural.

How quickly people forget that Tmobile's network is terrible.

Exactly....dropped calls, hell when I had T-Mobile, when people would try and call me...the phone wouldn't register the call. The only way I would know is if they left me a message or I saw them in person later on and they told me.

Not true here in Southern CA--T-Mobile's network is far superior to AT&T's. In fact, I am using an unlocked iPhone on it right now. Love my iPhone, loathe AT&T!

ROFL... he can easily take it here - and heck, EDGE speed is not much different from ATT's miserable data network either.

Ehh? Android is almost 2 years old IIRC...

You don't know them, do you? I have the most different one and it's STILL Android at every step.

Not when it comes to 3G and definitely does not drop twice per call...

It's not an opinion, it's a FACT - it's running a pathetically OUTDATED OS on a waaay outdated hardware.

It's 2010 and the iPhone is still UNABLE TO MULTITASK - something old Palms, iPaq/Jornadas did ~8-10 years ago.

Nonsense... it's old and OUTDATED, SEVERELY behind EVERY OTHER mobile OS.

It's a fact, no matter how much we bank on the dumber-than-average US population.

except it's true, unlike anything ATT ever said in any commercials.

Sorry but I couldn't care - when you move to the sticks you know this, it's part of your consideration.

OK, great.. T-Mobile apparently has 'wonderful' coverage on both the east and west coasts. But, what about the midwest? I'm in the midwest (Chicago), and T-Mobile has horrible coverage, comparable to piss-poor carriers like Cricket.

Personally I'll just stick with Sprint...
