So - we had storms last night in Ohio...

We warn our 7 year old who thinks that EVERY storm is a tornado and let him know that storms are out and about.... Wind blows, it gets dark, rain hard and in less than 5 minutes - WHAM - no power. Not even a flicker - just power one instant and none the next at about 6:30 PM.

I had sink full of dishes, needed to run the dishwasher , kids needed a bath, wife wanted to take a soak, and a load of the kids laundry needed to be done.

Storm blows thru in an hour and since I called power folks immediately, I figured we would get power back soon...... wrong - 12:12 AM power comes back on but not before they reset the breaker and it blows immediately again waking all of us up.

I actually went to bed at 9:15 PM last night - earliest in a LONG time...

Some interesting shots uploaded here: »www.whiotv.com/weather/index.html

Look at the Severe Weather Photos in the middle of the page -just to the right of the radar. Most of these were north of me - near St Paris, Oh and Piqua which had tornado warnings.

We pretty-much dodged that bullet. The bulk of the storms yesterday and last night passed just south of us. We did have some wind Tuesday as one cell blew through, but I wouldn't call it a storm. The wind came up... blew for about 15 minutes and then it all settled into a light rain. It did bring down a huge limb onto one of my neighbor's house though. Not a lot of damage... just some bent up rain gutters on a addition. Tree crews were out yesterday to clean up the mess. The limb was huge but it fell in about the only place where damage could be called light. About two feet more and it probably would have demolished the addition on their house. Actually, to call it a limb is probably incorrect... more like the entire top of the tree. There is some specualtion that lightning, and not just the wind was involved. No scorch marks, but the tree was quite healthy and the wind really wasn't that strong. At least, no one else had any damage at all, and we all heard a tremendous "crack" of thunder just before the tree came down. It sprinkled a couple of times during the day yesterday, but not enough to really say it rained.

I kept an eye on the radar last night and it looked like everything slid to the south of us by 10 or 12 miles.

Had plenty of thunderstorms and lightning on Monday - day and night. Oldest grandson's graduation from Southview High School (last graduating class )was moved from George Daniel Stadium on Tuesday because the grass was too wet...to the small auditorium at Southview...then, at 2PM, it was moved back to GDStadium...for the 7PM ceremonies. All went perfectly.
Then yesterday, the winds came up, the skies got dark, heard boomers to the West of my house...2 minutes later...what a downpour! at least 2" of rain came down - streets were almost flooded by my house. Within 6 minutes, it stopped raining and the skies cleared up...the nasty stuff headed towards Cleveland !
We're having 80+ temps atm, winds are brisk, and we're 'supposed' to have afternoon scattered thunderstorms. The humidity is at 90%...thank goodness for central AC.

It was also interesting that the storm seemed to slow down a LOT after it passed by - we heard thunder for at least another hour and a half at a minimum.

Wow, I'm right down the street from you and the lights dimmed here a few times but never went out. Guess we got lucky.
