I think you got the name wrong though. Express is the slow tier. I think you mean Enterprise (business class). I am wondering what the residential speeds will be. I think someone mentioned 30mb/s, but I think that is just rumor. -- - "Techie" Jim |

I think someone mentioned 30mb/s, but I think that is just rumor. You are correct. Express is the slowest tier. Enterprise is the 50/5 tier (and Business Essentials is 30/5). However it is a bit of a misnomer, because you can get the Enterprise tier and be a residential subscriber (I think they need to market it better, but I digress). I'm not sure how they will provide it in your market, but if it's anything like mine; you've got to call, and call, and call some more. The 50/5 I have now is not advertised anywhere from them. I just knew about it through these forums and calls to different customer service reps. |

The problem I have is that the increases in the residential tiers seem pretty paltry for a decade in the making (not to mension I am do not believe we even got the "free" upgrades that we heard about last year). I really don't care for a 50/5 or 30/5. I would like to see the 500 tier go to 5/5 or Pro go to 10/5. I have never seen a need for more download speed yet. I would like a bit more upload speed especially considering they advertise Carbonite backup but would take weeks to upload just 1gb on the 500 and at least days on the pro tier. -- - "Techie" Jim |

rawgerzThe hell was that?Premium join:2004-10-03 Grove City, PA | I mostly feel that way also but, I don't imagine upload will get better until if/when they drop analog service |

| I doubt it will get better even then. Just look at the specs. If you look at the Arris WBM760, the newest DOCSIS 3.0 modem they are using, it only has 37 MHz of usable upstream spectrum. So, per node, there is only 150 Mb/s of upstream to be shared between 250 subscribers. Even if you bond the channels, there just isn't that much to go around. At the maximum, I see it going to 10 Mb/s. But I even doubt that, probably just at 5 Mb/s for the top end like it is now. The only way to increase it would be to do node splits, or reconfigure the entire network to use more spectrum for upstream. I bet FTTH will be implemented by Armstrong in 10 years before those. |
