Just switch to Sprint

Just switch to Sprint, best phones, best prices, and UNLIMITED data.

No thanks. Mediocre phones, mediocre service (at least when I had them) and unlimited data until they actually get customers in quantity, then they'll cap like everyone else.

48 Million isn't quantity?

They also have EVO, the hottest phone since iPhone, a bunch of BlackBerry's and a slew of Android phones coming this year. How is that mediocre compared to VZW?

Too bad Sprint force you to have all 5 phones on a family plan with data plan. If only they had the option of adding a line for $9.99 or $19.99 like VZW then it'll be great.

So hot that they had to over inflate the launch numbers?

HTC didn't make enough for the demand. They ares still selling more EVOs that can be made. Apparently only 150K were available for launch day - still more than first Droid or Droid Incredible. Best Buy said EVO was best selling phone ever for them, including iPhone.

Yeah, Sprint screwed up launch numbers, doesn't mean it's still the hottest selling phone right now.

"Dunn, speaking on an earnings conference call following disappointing fiscal first-quarter results, said the "4G HTC Evo is the best-selling device in Best Buy Mobile." Dunn added that "Android platform sales are outstanding.""

That says it is the best selling device, but doesn't say "ever".

Guess EVO is not very hot then.

In the end, they are selling more than can be made...

I can see by your posting history you are obviously extremely pro Sprint, which is great. But trying to compare sales numbers of a current phone (Evo) to the sales numbers of the first generation iPhone is somewhat silly. Compare that to the most recent iPhone 3gS sales and it's not close, never mind the 4.

It's a great selling phone for Sprint which they really need.

Correct, Verizon and AT&T have nearly twice as many. Compared to Verizon with 92.8M and AT&T 87M, Sprint isn't shit. If Sprint had 90M users, they would be capping like crazy, particularly since Sprint continues to LOSE MONEY AND BLEED SUBSCRIBERS

And yeah, EVO, big seller. iPhone 4 only outsold it by over 9 to 1 the first day. Hell, even with the ordering problems they sold 4X as many iPhone 4s in 1 day than Sprint sold EVOs their entire release weekend.

iPhone would do well given an established base of 14m+ active iPhone users on ATT, maybe much more. 600K is small really for upgraders alone.

Only point was that EVO is hot, not a mediocre phone as implied.

quote:
The iPhone accounted for 58.8% of mobile Web usage at the end of May, compared to 19.9% for Android phones and 10.4% for Research in Motion's BlackBerry, Quantcast reported Monday. While those numbers favor Apple, the trend over the last 12 months do not. Compared to the same month a year ago, the iPhone's share in Web usage fell 8.1%, while Android Phones' share rose 12.2%.
It will be interesting to see the stats at the end of the year. If iPhone continues to lose share, it will imply that most iPhones 4 sales are upgrades rather than expansion of user base.

There is nothing "hot" about 150K unit release weekend unless it was 2007. EVO is mediocre. Even Sprint tried to play down their mediocre sales numbers.

And with Android available on so many carriers and some of those carriers GIVING the phones away (like VZW does with Droid's buy 1 get 1) I have no doubt they will outsell Apple's 3 handset models on a single carrier. I would bet within a few years they outsell RIM as well. Free is a hard price point to beat.

That's just Day 1. They simply didn't make enough Day 1 and that was a huge mistake as many stores sold out by early afternoon. I'd be pissed if a Sprint investor that enough weren't there for Day 1. They've been restocking phones just about every day and selling out just about every day.

Palm Pre was making 15K phones a day. I'd guess HTC could match that if not more but if only that many, then it will only hit about 500K first month. Sales are obviously limited by manufacturing as the demand is obviously there.

Sprint's data-centric family plans are $20 a pop for add-a-line, and that includes data AND messaging. Want cheaper? Everything Plus Referral Program is the same thing for $15 per line.

Seems you are the only one impressed by EVOs sales. Even Sprint is downplaying them. And yeah, 1/10th of iPhone sales is less than iPhone sales. 60K on release and 150K for the weekend is mediocre unless it is 2007.

Perhaps Sprint is more preoccupied with their losing hundreds of millions every quarter and LOSING customers.

So that would make Sprint LESS than mediocre.

Impressed by daily sellouts as stock replenishes? Don't think I'm the only one impressed.

Who else is impressed with these ongoing sales numbers? Sprint is bleeding money and customers and the EVO is merely mediocre. The EVO is just another in a long line of iPhone killers that weren't. Storm, Pre, EVO, all mediocre.
