 | U-Verse Pro Internet and U100 TV Package Hello all,
I'm currently at AT&T Direct Basic DSL customer. I've been tired of the slow internet I've been receiving (50kbps download speed) and wanted to upgrade. I called today to upgrade to the Express DSL package for $15/month more on top of my current bill. The AT&T Rep on the phone said I should consider U-verse, but I thought it wasn't available in my area. Found out the previous renters in my apartment had U-Verse and it was messing up the system with errors in all. He got that cleared and said I was good to go.
However, installation fees are a killer on just the U-Verse internet ($150), plus $3/month modem rental. I was thinking, and reading, about ordering the TV and Internet together to get the free installation and modem (plus $250/promo card) and the canceling the TV in the next week or so.
Some questions though, thought some here might have a couple of the answers: 1. Anyone got this to work recently? 2. Does the U-Verse tv have a contract that i'll be stuck in? (From what I see, no. Double checking)
Thanks, Jacob |

 | Who is your current TV Provider? Why do you not want to switch to U-verse TV? |

It'd be sort of pointless for me to add on U-Verse TV and still have to pay $40/month for a mandatory basic cable package.
Only if my apartments offered cable internet too... |

1 edit | Just add the TV, then in thirty days, scale back. If you are wanting the more HD, plus more sports, stick with TV on U-Verse.
As for the "Mandatory" CATV, can you talk to the HOA and see if they will waive it for the pure fact, that you have a competitor. If not, then look at the budge for the next thirty to sixty days, and see where you can cut back to even out, until you change the plan to no tv on U-Verse. |

 | reply to jacobm90 I've never heard of an apartment "requiring" you to have a basic cable package. I don't believe that is quite legal. I'd check into it. |

I did a quick Google search about laws and regulations about the matter and didn't find anything specific about it. I live in the greater Houston (Texas) area though, if anyone else knows anything. It'd be great if I could get that kicked off, I hardly watch TV anyways. |
