 | Directions For Connecting Without VZ Access Manager (3rd) I tried this too - Windows XP
The time to connect is considerably shorter as the original post mentioned.
I am not competely certain that I got faster speeds - results were certainly within the normal fluxuations to be expected on an Air Card type of connection - and I'm behind a hill from the only reasonably close tower so cellular and broadband Verizon are kind of flakey here.
The main difference that I noticed was with my Skype connections. Pre-change I had a serious problem (Skype-to-Skype, Skype-to-land_or_cell, or land_or_cell-to-Skype). Quality was horrible - lost audio packets, up to a 5 second round trip delay, even out of order packets. All tests so far post-change have provided for good quality and latency of about 0.5 sec roundtrip.
So, I believe that AccessManager was probably doing something that impacted the Skype system - e.g., I'm pretty sure it was compressing upload data.
I will post more results if they alter this. |
