Re: Nvidia GTX 470 question I know I won't. As far as the whole PhsyX thing..Mafia 2 will have it..and that is one game I will own for sure, and want to get the full gaming effect from it.
Is UPS shipping stuff this Monday with the holiday on Sunday? O and I found the evga gtx 470 non superclocked on Amazon for still the price of $329+free ship but sadly I HATE Amazons shipping times. Its pathetic to say the least. Can't beat Neweggs shipping, and half the reason why I buy from them even if their more expensive.
I do have a question for you guys though, can I still overclock the superclocked edition? And if I do will that void my lifetime warranty with evga? |

MchartFirst There. join:2004-01-21 Gurnee, IL | You can overclock it without them voiding the warranty. Even the non overclocked cards from them can be overclocked without voiding the warranty. This is why it's typically not reccomended to lay down the cash for a factory overclocked card. The overclock isn't substantial enough (Meaning you will see a 5% performance gain at most in benchmarks), and they are still using the same equipment.
I do think it is a better idea to get the card from a company like EVGA though. The extra 30 bucks is worth the better warranty. |

And the Superclocked has additional heat spreaders and a new bracket that improves airflow and lowers temps. -- Need-based health care not greed-based health care. |

And the Superclocked has additional heat spreaders and a new bracket that improves airflow and lowers temps. For the GTX 470 Superclocked it does not. They have the higher flow bracket and the backplate on the superclocked +. However, the bracket can be acquired for free from EVGA, and the backplate will be 15 bucks when they release it.
Not worth the extra money for the overclocked editions. As even the physically different features can be had for a lot less then what they charge for the different card.
That said, it still seems quite silly to overclock a new card like the GTX470 unless you are going for benchmark numbers. Even the GTX 470 plays the latest games max settings no problem. Plays Metro 2033 maxed out settings w/ AA and AF. No reason to overclock the card if it's running everything great. I think 'overclocked' cards are only worth it if they offer more then the standard nvidia/ATI design. Meaning they have a completely different cooling setup, a higher quality PCB, and other features. However, these cards are usually anywhere from 80-150 bucks more expensive then the normal cards - And it's quite hard to justify that price when you can just upgrade to the faster card. (Like a 5870)
The 5870 is a great choice for the money. A much better buy then the GTX 480 IMO. I personally wouldn't spend $400-ish on a graphics card ($300 is usually my limit) - But if you have the money, go for it. -- THIS IS SPENCER. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - I HAVE JOE. RETURNING TO BASE. |

The bracket is free only to registered 470/480 but there is a shipping cost of $4.95. EVGA has no release date or price on the heat speader backplate.
Not worth the extra money for the overclocked editions. As even the physically different features can be had for a lot less then what they charge for the different card. Depends on what you want and what you can get. My 470 Superclocked was all that was available for a very reasonable price at the time. -- Need-based health care not greed-based health care. |

I have ordered tons of stuff from both, and Amazon is as reliable as they come with shipping.
You probably don't have Prime. It's free 2-day shipping! Well worth it if you order enough stuff every year (I think Prime membership is $60). Plus when you are in a real time crunch, you can get something next day for only $4. Awesome option for gifts for people's birthdays and around Christmas time. |

I don't order enough stuff to justify paying that when Newegg gets it to me in 3 days and mostly they ship it for free.
Not to mention if you don't have Amazon Prime, they take like a week just to get it shipped. :/ Amazon needs to take a lesson from Newegg on shipping, and not charge their customers for a service that should be free with good shipping times. Their prices are good..but their shipping is horrible, hell I get things faster from buying things on eBay. |

Yeah to each his own. I don't know about regular Amazon since I have always done prime. Saves me hunderds in shipping each year so it is one of the best services on the Planet IMO.
NewEgg is great too, I've bought almost all my PC gear from them. But when there is something they don't have free shipping on & it is a silly $5.99 or $7.98, I just buy it from Amazon & it's Free, plus I get it in 2 days....every time. |
