[Cable] New to tweaking and not getting advertised speeds w/ com

I am new to tweaking but I'm always looking for ways to optimize the performance of the setup that I have. I ran some speed tests and found that my observed download speed is only about 50% of what Comcast says the advertised speeds should be (Performance Package=6mbps down; 384kbps up). I was reading on why this might be and learned that my settings could be tweaked and possibly improve my speeds. I am hoping someone with your website could guide me as to how to possibly accomplish this. Thank you in advance for your time.

Below is the required information:

#1 »/tweakr/block:···a=normal

#2 Flash test DL=2066; UL=1505 URL:

Speedtest.net results: DL=3470kbps; UL=3050kbps; ping=74ms

#3 Line quality test: »/linequality/nil/2656772

#4 cable, but use router for wireless; ISP=comcast; motorola surfboard sb5101u cable modem

#5 N/A

#6 N/A

#7 Windows XP

#8 Advertised speeds are 6000kbps download and 384kbps upload

#9 N/A

#10 Linksys E1000 Wireless-N Router; 2.4 Ghz; Ethernet 10/100 Ports

Thanks again,

Re: [Cable] New to tweaking and not getting advertised speeds w/

Download DrTcp

Set Tcp Receive Window to 64240

Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.

Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank

Using the drop-down menu in The Doctor set your NIC’s (Ethernet adapter’s) MTU to 1500.

Save/Exit DrTcp

Reboot

Rerun the Tweak Test

Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs

Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512

Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.

Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test.

Your LQT shows some packet loss on the West Coast run. For now, let's not worry about until you do the tweaks.

That looks good. Comcast has PowerBoost. I don't think that a 6mb package would test so high.

That’s about as good as it gets. It isn’t going to get much better than that. Put a fork in it you’re done.

Great! Thanks so much Irish Shark! Man, you made that easy.

I heard they had Powerboost and had read they would make it available to customers at no cost, so I guess it's available to me now!

You guys blow me away at your overall knowledge of these things. And that picture is making me hungry.

Thanks again for your help.
