Kudos to Armstrong

We lost ISP and telephone service today... televisions were experiencing horrendous marco-blocking.

I finally called Armstrong at about 6 PM after checking all the obvious things I could. It being Saturday eventing, I expected to be told that someone would be out some time next week to look at it. To my surprise, I was told someone would be out this evening. About 7:30, two trucks pulled up and got to work.

They noticed that the drop across the road for my service was hanging low (perhaps a large truck knocked it loose). After fixing that, they were not satisfied with the signal levels, so they continued to troubleshoot. They found several bad connections and a frayed line and repaired them all. All is well again

When I was with Comcast, I could expect a 30 minute wait on hold, only to be walked through the paces of repeated resetting the CM/eMTA. If a truck roll was needed, I could expect up to a week long wait, and they made it quite clear that anything inside would be fixed only if I agreed to pay for the repair.

When I was with Verizon FiOS, the actual field service was timely and good, but it took an hour of automated phone menu mazes and several calls to get a truck out.

No such crap with Armstrong. Two menu options and I was actually talking to a local service rep.

Kudos to them.

·Armstrong Zoom ..

Good to hear everything worked out. Armstrong has been great on service for me as well. Sometimes, they aren't as knowledgable about DOCSIS information as I would like, but they are always good about signal levels and replacing problematic hardware. They've replaced a CM, 4 DVRs, and installed a new drop. All for no charge.

Armstrong is THE ONLY company I know with LOCAL support. The people that you talk to on the phone are in Butler...they are not outsourced and most live in the area. The also appear to have good communication within the company as well.

It's the only cable service in my world. Give me Armstrong or give me Dish.

Yeah - I used to live in Shaler (the Allison Park area north of Pittsburgh), and for the longest time, our only option was Comcast (or their predecessors). When FiOS became available in our neighborhood, Comcast's service "suddenly" began to improve (more channels, higher HSI speeds with no increase in cost), but their customer service was pretty raw.

Now I live a few miles west of Butler, and all that is available is Armstrong. The channel lineup is not as impressive as Comcast's or FiOS's, nor is the HSI speed. But they make up for it with lower prices and great tech support.

One of the guys that was out Saturday was the same guy that did the install on New Years eve right after we moved in. He remembered me. I have to admit, I didn't remember him until he jogged my memory.

They followed up today with a phone call to make sure everything was still working OK. Based on the number of TVs and my future plans to expand, they recommended that they install a seperate drop just for the cable modem/eMTA. They are coming out to do that on the 26th. At no charge, of course.

For years I was in a broadband black hole. One road away from DSL, cable ran past the end of my street, but they refused to run service the 100 yard aerial run to my house and fixed wireless couldn't get a good signal to my house, then Armstrong took over. It took a year but I finally have great internet service. I haven't really needed tech support, but customer service has been good so far. I just wish the HD was better quality and they had a better DVR.
